Kislingbury Bowls Club Gala 2017

The Interclub Gala this year was kindly sponsored by Heygates of Bugbrooke on Tuesday 5th September with a full compliment of 24 teams taking part.

The teams came from across Northamptonshire, plus four from Rugby and one from Dunstable. Many of the teams were regulars from previous years but we were vey pleased to welcome four new teams this year.

Despite a rainy start the skies did clear allowing a really high standard of bowling skill to be displayed.

The competition was played in good humour and the usual show of good manners. The Umpire for the day, David Cox, although always keen, found himself with little to arbitrate on.

The Kislingbury Captains team had a good day acquitting themselves well but a thinly disguised group of Kislingbury members (playing under the title of our sponsors Heygates), had a really excellent day finishing in an un-credited third place.

The needs of players, audience and helpers were well catered for with a hot breakfast bar in the morning and refreshments available throughout the day. The Club Ladies led by Margery and Chris provided an excellent lunch and the Bar manned by Jan and David did its usual roaring trade.

The Final was a keenly fought contest between a new entrant side “The Number Ones” and last years winners Bugbrooke. The eventual winners being Bugbrooke. Many congratulations to both sides.

The day finished with a Hog Roast Dinner, the presentations and prize raffle.

I am quite sure that everyone had a great time  and Kislingbury Bowls Club was thoroughly congratulated and thanked by the teams taking part and the quality of the green and the hospitality of the club praised to the heavens.

Many thanks to all the helpers who did such a professional task of making the Gala such a wonderful day.
